Robotic measuring EOL cell for measuring interior control parts

The robotic measuring EOL cell is based on the standard robotic measuring system and is used to measure control parts from automotive interiors, e.g. air conditioning units, radios, switches, ventilation nozzles, shifters, etc. as well as parts of consumer electronics, home technology or medical technology.

Measuring robotic EOL cell for measuring control parts

The robotic measurement system (EOL cell) enables the quality control of interior control parts such as air vents. Essentially, it is checked whether the haptic operating forces of the control wheel and blade rider are within a specified tolerance range.

A robot with mounted force and moment sensors (the robotic measuring in the test system) actuates the air vent and records the operators. In a subsequent analysis of the force-path curves, end stops, normal adjustment ranges and latches are examined and evaluated.

In addition, the diffuser is visually inspected, checking the completeness of the slats and other assembled parts, the quality of the symbols and the color of the bezel.

By using force sensors, robots and specially developed tools

The core of the test system is a measuring robot with a mounted force sensor to measure the haptics of the test item. There are two test stations in the robot's working area, which are loaded and unloaded by another robot so that the measuring robot can test (almost) continuously, constantly changing between the two test stations. A handling robot is located in the middle of the system to transport the inserted parts back and forth from the loading area to the test stations. During transport, the part is also visually inspected by the robot placing the test adapter with the part in front of a camera, with the image analysis providing information about the completeness of all assembled parts or about the quality of symbols. After the optical and haptic test, an overall assessment of the test item is carried out. If all quality features are within the assigned tolerance limits, the handling robot removes the part from the haptic space and positions it in front of a print head to apply an identification to the IO part (manufacturer, part number, time stamp). After IO printing, the handling robot places the part on the test adapter back to the loading point, where the marked part is removed by the operator.

Testing of robotic measuring to ensure quality and function

The measurement robots are specified and defined as a measurement reference in order to create a clear basis for decision-making for the final product evaluation and its approval.

Recognized and valued as a benchmark to meet the OEMs' and suppliers' acceptance scenario and to verify test results in accordance with contracted product specifications, with the aim of accepting the manufacturing quality of the product. Our factory standards and validations guarantee accurate product quality ratings, which are confirmed by our clients' auditors.
